This
is Our Lash. Today,
let’s talk about brighten skin color.
The first thing we need to know is what's making our
skin darker?
1. The melanin
In the past, when it came to skin lightening, we often
thought of working on the skin's melanin. Indeed, melanin is the determining
factor for skin color. Melanin cells, located at the base of the epidermis,
churn out melanin like little factories.
Here's a little cold knowledge: from the Caucasus to
China, South America and Africa, the people of different RACES in the skin
melanin cell number is not much difference, the difference only lies in the
cell activity is high or low, i.e., cell melanosome production by gathering for
the number, size and differences, ethnic differences caused by skin color.
So when we're trying to stop ourselves from going
dark, we're starting at the level of cellular activity.
And that includes :
1) Inhibit melanin production
The simplest and safest is vitamin C, which can not
only inhibit melanin generation, but also stabilize cells to a certain extent.
It is the best choice for safe whitening.
2) Block melanin transport
If nothing goes wrong, the resulting melanin is
transported to the three dozen or so epidermal cells around it, adding to the skin
tone, but some active ingredients, such as nicotinamide, slow down the process.
Nicotinamide, an amide form of vitamin B3, reduces
visible pigmentation by inhibiting the transfer of melanin to epidermal
keratinocytes.
However, the application of nicotinamide has always
been hampered by some people. Due to its effect of dilating local blood
vessels, some people will have unpleasant flushing after using it. Although
this flushing is not harmful, most people will say that it greatly affects the
use experience.
3) Promote melanin metabolism
The melanin that has formed is difficult to reverse,
and a relatively quick way is to promote exfoliation of the excess keratin,
thereby removing some of the pigment.
Fruit acid, salicylic acid is this kind of composition,
this kind of cutin peeling agent can produce a miracle effect, not only skin
color brightens, pores will shrink, but in sensitive skin needs to be used with
caution, especially rose acne, a little careless will be allergic.
Yeast extract exfoliates diagonally more gently
because it does not exfoliate directly, but rather reduces the accumulation of
old keratin. Most of the time, even sensitive skin can use it.
Yeast extract has also attracted attention in recent
years for its association with autophagy, a phenomenon that may increase the
ability of viable cells to swallow old cell debris and recycle it, which can
also be interpreted as a more efficient metabolism.
2. Oxidation and
saccharification
In addition to congenital skin tone and tan, we often notice
a dullness of the skin that comes with age, called "yellow".
As glycosylation and oxidative stress damage mechanism
was unveiled gradually, people realized that it is completely different another
kind of skin damage, may be called the “maillard”reaction, the result of the
skin protein glycosylation, the reaction product is difficult to remove tan
glycosylated protein which, deposit in skin color, and accelerates the dermal
collagen degradation, look aged.
Vitamin C is one of the most recognized antioxidants.
By providing electrons and neutralizing free radicals, vitamin C protects
cellular structures from oxidative stress and slows down glycosylation.
This property, in addition to inhibiting melanin
production, helps fight oxidative stress and glycosylation, offsets some of the
damage caused by photoaging, and promotes collagen regeneration and skin
brightness.
Wait a minute! Can collagen also improve skin
brightness?
Yes, that's what I want to talk to you about today
3. The influence of dermal collagen
on skin color
What many people fail to notice is that the thickness
of dermal collagen not only affects skin elasticity, but also has a great
impact on skin color. Like concealer, thick dermal collagen tightly hides the
color of dermal capillaries, and collagen loss with age leads to uneven skin
tone.
This effect is particularly pronounced in two places:
• There are abundant capillaries in the middle of the
face, and there are not too many fat pads around the nose. Once the dermis
atrophies and becomes thin, uneven skin color with brown in red is most likely
to occur.
• The skin around the eyes is thin, where collagen
loss occurs and the dark blue color of the blood vessels under the skin is
easily visible. This is the circular dark circles under the eyes.
Skin care products cannot directly supplement collagen
into the dermis. The molecular weight of the whole collagen is too large to be
absorbed through the skin. But some ingredients promote collagen regeneration
and increase the thickness of the dermis.
Mild and non-irritating acetyl chitosan has been
widely used in the cosmetics industry due to its high moisturizing performance.
Chitosan is also the raw material for the synthesis of hyaluronic acid, so it
can promote the skin to generate its own hyaluronic acid, and play a
moisturizing and filling effect at the same time. Hyaluronic acid, as the
matrix of dermis, is stable.
Buried in them are collagen factories - fibroblasts -
that steadily produce more collagen, the idea being to slowly whiten the skin.
4. Prevent sun exposure
After summarizing several ideas, it has to be
mentioned that, despite the genetic factors, sun exposure is still the most
unstable factor affecting skin color. We already know that UV rays can cause
damage to our skin:
• It gives us a tan
• Induced oxidation, glycosylation damage
• Causes excessive degradation of dermal collagen,
resulting in photoaging
Ah! A carefully planned countermeasure is destroyed by
one ultraviolet ray!
So remember, sun protection, sun protection.
Keep an umbrella or a hat on when you go out, use
broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF30 or more on sunny days, and never stand in
the sun, even if there is only the shadow of a telephone pole, and hide in that
shadow!
Sunscreen, always bright skin is the ultimate bottom
line.
So much for my thoughts on bright skin, and I wish you
fairies a bright year round.
